DANIELLA’S SUDDEN DISTANCE did not go unnoticed. Something had bothered her, but Trey wasn’t sure what. Fabio demanded reassurance at his mistress’ hand, and she knelt and hugged him tight.

She had definitely been frightened by the near-fall of the ornament, but Trey wondered if it wasn’t something more. Should he offer her comfort? She’d been so delighted by his dragon form...

Without thinking twice, he hung the ornament back on the tree and shifted. He came to worm his way in with Fabio, until she had an armful of both dragon and dog and she was laughing again in relief and delight.

Fabio, abashed by his embarrassing crash, tried to lick him, but was gentle about it, and his tail wagged slowly.

Daniella stood with Trey cradled in her arms, gave Fabio a pat on the head, and retreated to the couch, where she curled up with the dragon.

“You’re less... spiky than I thought you’d be,” she observed, stroking his wings and trailing her fingers down his tail.

It wasn’t as erotic being under her fingers as it was when he was in human form, but it was comforting; Trey could see why Fabio liked being petted so much. His eyes closed, and he found himself humming in pleasure.

When he shifted again, he was lying with his head in Daniella’s lap, and it seemed like the perfect place to be.
